About Cooking Alchemist
Cooking Alchemist is an AI-powered recipe assistant that helps users transform the ingredients they already have into practical, tasty recipes. The app combines modern web UI with generative AI flows to produce multiple recipe options, step-by-step instructions, and spoken cooking guidance.
How the app uses AI
- Ingredient understanding: Natural language processing parses free-form ingredient lists and normalizes quantities and items.
- Recipe generation: A generative model proposes recipe ideas, quantities, and step-by-step instructions tailored to the user’s dietary preferences and number of servings.
- Filtering & safety: AI-based filters remove unsafe or unsuitable recipe suggestions based on dietary restrictions.
- Text-to-speech: The app can generate spoken instructions so users can listen while they cook.
Technology & architecture
Built with Next.js and Tailwind CSS for the frontend, Cooking Alchemist uses a small AI backend (Genkit flows) to run the generative workflows. The project relies on lightweight server-side functions for orchestration and client-side interactions for responsiveness.
Why it matters
The app reduces food waste by helping people find useful recipes from what's already in their pantry. It lowers the barrier to home cooking by providing accessible steps and spoken instructions, and it demonstrates how generative AI can be integrated into everyday productivity tools.
